Сюда же относят греч. λάχνος, λάχνη "шерсть, волос" из *vl̥ksnā (см. Сольмсен, Unters. gr. Lautl. 125 и сл.; однако ср. Буазак 562). Далее связывается с во́лос (Лиден, там же). Вместе с тем нежелательно отказываться от сближения с волоку́. Во всяком случае, не заимств. из герм.; ср. д.-в.-н. walchan "бить, валять" (вопреки Хирту, РВВ 23, 337; против см. Кипарский 55).
