COMMENT: In PA *ʁ- is a result of assimilation (*ʁadač̣a < *qadač̣a). The root should be distinguished from a similar *GačV q.v. (because in Lak. there exists an opposition q:aIča - quIrč̣u). The EC-WC comparison is acceptable if we assume a metathesis in one of the subgroups - which is a rather usual phenomenon in NC roots (especially those containing two stops).
Other etymologies of the WC form (comparison with Georg. deḳeuli 'heifer' in Rogava 1958 or with Tat. ičke 'goat' in Shagirov 2) seem to us less acceptable, both for phonetic and semantic reasons.

Комментарий: Since the Arch. word is isolated within Lezg., it may be an old Lak. loanword (cf. the Lak. form qIurč̣u). It is interesting to note, however, that in Tab. (Kand.) the word q̇Ianč: ( < PL *q̇Iʷanč̣: 'young of an ass') means also 'heifer (more than 2 y. old)' which is probably a result of contamination of two similar roots: *q̇Iʷanč̣: and *χIVrč̣-.

Комментарии: PAK *čḳa. Since there are no Ub. or PAT parallels (despite Balkarov 1964, 117 Ub. Laq̇́ǝ́ 'calf' can not be compared), it is hard to guess the nature of the initial affricate in PWC (since in PAK there occurred neutralizations in clusters like *CK-). External evidence suggests that it must have been a hushing affricate. Also both velar *ḳ or uvular *q̇ may be reconstructed (since in clusters with dental affricates the Adygh languages do not tolerate uvulars).
