Proto-Lak: =u=χ:i-
Proto-Dargwa: *=iχ:- / =uχ:-
Proto-Lezghian: *ʔiχ:e-
Proto-Khinalug: äχ-wi
Notes: Reconstructed for the PEC level. The root is widely represented in two basic Ablaut grades: *=ĭχ_V (or, without class prefixes, *ʔĭχ_V- > *χ_V-) and *=ŭχ_V. We can also reconstruct a PEC derivate *r-[ä̆]χ_V 'load, burden' (reflected in PD *deχ:, PA *riχi-r, see above). (Note that PTs *=ɔʁ:- may represent a contamination of this root and PNC *=Hĕlχ_U q.v., which would explain the meanings 'take away, take off' in Tsezian languages). Cf. also HU: Hurr., Urart. χa- 'to take (away, etc.)', see Diakonoff-Starostin 1986, 61.

Other possible derivates from the same root are PNC *mŏχ_V 'pack, bundle' q.v. (if it is, it contains the rare instrumental prefix *m-), and PEC *χ_[ä]lʔV 'burden, bundle' q.v.

Godoberi: =aχ- 1,3
Comments: Cf. also Akhv. reχe (Tseg., Tlan. reχer) 'bundle, pack', Kar. riher id. The listed forms reflect the PA verb *=iχ- (sometimes with Ablaut: *=aχ- (~ =oχ-)) and the PA derivate *r-iχi-r 'load'. On Av. hir 'sack, load' see under *χ_[ä]lʔV.

The Andian languages also reflect a root *=uχ- 'to take away, carry away' (And., Cham., Tind. =uχ-), reflecting another old Ablaut grade of the same verbal stem.

Tabasaran: χ- 1
Agul: χa- 1
Rutul: =iχe-s 1
Archi: χ:e- 1

Comment: Cf. also Lezg. pret. ʁa-na and, with a devoicing preverb t-, t-uχ-uz 'to drag, carry'; Tab. Khür. χ:-; Ag. Bursh. χi-s (preserving the front Auslaut vowel), Tp. ʁ-as; Arch. dur. orχ:i-r. The verb belongs to the weak conjugation in PL. Most forms reflect the Ablaut grade *ʔiχ:e- (frequently with a reduction of the first narrow vowel); the Ablaut grade *o is attested in Arch. orχ:i-r and Lezg. t-uχ-uz; finally the Ablaut grade *ä is possibly reflected in Ud. aχa-, as well as in Arch. aχ:a as 'to take away, move, take off'. See also notes to a similar PL root *ʔiχ(:)e- 'to come, go'.
