Lezghian etymology :

Proto-Lezghian: *ʔawχ:Ia
Meaning: 1 to swell 2 tumour
Tabasaran: a=ʁI- 1
Agul: ṭ-aX̀- 1
Rutul: ṭ-a=χIa- 1
Tsakhur: alṭ-a=χ:Ia- 1
Kryz: s-äħ- 1
Archi: babχ:Ia- 1
Udi: beχI 2
Comment: Cf. also Tab. Düb. a=ʁI-, Ag. Bursh. ṭ-aX̀a-. The verb belongs to the weak PL class. The Ag., Rut. and Tsakh. forms contain an expressive preverb *ṭ-. In the Archi form b- is obviously a former class prefix; dur. babχ:Iu-r points to a secondary labialisation *-wχ:I- > *-bχ:Iʷ- in early Archi.

North Caucasian etymology :

Proto-North Caucasian: *Hăwaχ_V
Meaning: to swell
Notes: Reconstructed for the PEC level. The verb has a very rare root structure (*HVRVCV), clearly seen in the reflexes; the second consonant is in most subgroups a reflex of *-w-, but Lak. has -r- and Andian has changing class infixes (-b-/-r-). Since such a root structure is quite unique for a verb, there are two equally acceptable solutions: to reconstruct *-w- (and consider Lak. -r- and And. -b-/-r- an innovation) or to reconstruct changing class infixes in PEC.

Protoform: *ʔa=aχʷ-
Meaning: to swell
Andian language: a=aχ-
Akhvakh: abaχ-
Chamalal: ābaχ-
Tindi: abaχʷ-
Karata: ʕabih- (Tok.)
Comments: Changing class infixes are attested only in Andian (cf. aor. abaχo / araχo), and it is not quite clear whether it is an archaism or an innovation. In any case, the structure of this verbal stem is quite exceptional. There also exists a reflex of stem II *χʷV- in Tind. χʷē- 'to swell; to rise (of dough)'.
