Proto-North Caucasian: *ʒ́w[ǝ̆]nʔi ( ~ -ē)
Meaning: wine; honey
Proto-Avaro-Andian: *žono
Proto-Tsezian: *š(:)aj ( ~ -ã-)
Proto-Lak: zini
Proto-Lezghian: *č:on (~č:ʷ-,-ɨ-,-n:)
Proto-West Caucasian: *sʷa(nǝ)
Notes: The EC-WC parallel seems quite probable both phonetically and semantically. The first vowel is not quite clear (because of assimilations and labialisations in EC reflexes); to judge from PWC *sʷ-, it must have been a short back vowel.

Proto-West-Caucasian: *sʷa(nǝ)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: honey
Adyghe: śʷawǝ
Kabardian: fow
Ubykh: sʷanǝ́
Comments: PAK *sʷawǝ́. The AK-Ub. comparison see in Rogava 1956, 87, Dumézil-Esenc̣ 1975, 148, Shagirov 2, 100-101. Although none of these authors could offer a satisfactory explanation of the strange correlation AK *-w- : Ub. *-n-, the parallel still seems satisfactory. All other suggestions (comparison with PAT *cǝxa 'honey' in Abdokov 1973, 71; comparison with PAT *cʷa 'wax' and PK *c̥1̇wil- / *c̥1̇wid- id. in Rogava 1956, 87, Klimov 1969, 291) should be rejected for phonetic reasons.
