Notes: An expressive (onomatopoeic) root; however, its PNC antiquity seems quite probable. In Lak., Darg., part of Lezg. languages (Agul) and PWC the second velar was assimilated to the first uvular; however, PN, PA and most Lezg. forms (with metathesis of velarity: *ḳʷaʁI < *q̇:Iʷaɣ) clearly point to its original velar character.
The Kab. form was compared with PA and PN in Balkarov 1964, 102; 1969, 176.
