\data\cauc\caucet
Proto-North Caucasian: *q̇_wăɫV
Meaning: rope, saddle-girth
Proto-Avaro-Andian: *q̇:ʷalV ( ~ -o-)
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛ̣ɔn-q̇ʷelV B
Proto-Lezghian: *q̇ʷVlV (?)
Notes: Reconstructed for the PEC level. The pure root is attested only in Av. and God. The PTs form is a compound of *ƛ̣ɔn- ( < *ƛ̣Vl- 'saddle', see *ƛ̣_wiɫē) with *q̇ʷelV 'saddle-girth'. It is possible that the Kryz. word q̇iq̇er reflects the same compound, with a subsequent distortion (q̇iq̇er < *ƛ̣:(ʷ)il-q̇(ʷ)al). In Archi, besides the obvious Avar loanword q̇ʷal 'saddle-girth' there exists also a form q̇ʷalur (plur. tant. in -ur) 'swaddling-bands' which may be genuinely related to the listed forms.
