Proto-North Caucasian: *=alḳV
Meaning: to limp, lame
Notes: The root is characteristic for the Eastern Daghestan area (Lak., Darg., Lezg.); its relationship to PEC *Hläk_V̄ (/*Hälk_V̄) is not quite clear. Note also several forms with -n-: Chech. länḳa 'lame person', Lak. linḳ 'lameness', Arch. lanḳ bos 'to limp, hobble' which may be borrowed from Pers. lang 'lame' (but for the verbal root *=alḳV this is hardly the case).
