Proto-North Caucasian: *šHătV
Meaning: spittle, saliva
Notes: A Nakh-Darg. isogloss. Obviously related to Osset. sät / sätä 'spittle, saliva' (cf. also Balk. šǝtǝ id.). If its Iranian etymology is correct (*spaɵa, see Abayev 1979, 92) - which, however, is somewhat dubious for phonetic and morphological reasons - we will have too acknowledge the Iranian origin of the gloss.
