Proto-Tsezian: *Haƛ̣V (~ -ɔ-)
Meaning: waist
Bezhta: coṭar-aƛ̣a-s
Comments: The Bezht. word is a compound with coṭaro 'navel'. In the Tlad. dialect the same word sounds ciṭiraƛ̣as / tic̣iraƛ̣as which is a contamination with tic̣iro 'belt'. The second component (-aƛ̣a-s) is an archaic noun meaning 'back, waist' (although synchronously the word may be analysed as "situated above the navel" - which is probably a folk etymology).
