Kui-Kuwi etymology :

\data\drav\kuiet
Proto-Kui-Kuwi : *guṭ-
Meaning : stump
Gondwan etymology: Gondwan etymology
Kui : gūṭa "stump of tree"
Khuttia Kui : guṭa
Sunkarametta Kuwi : guṭṭu (pl. guṭka) "stump of tree, stubble of paddy"
Kuwi (Israel) : kuḍuli "log"
Notes : Irregular vowel length in Kui. I strongly suspect that kuḍuli in Kuwi_Isr is a borrowing from SDR, not only because its semantics is specific among the other CDR languages (where the meaning is always 'stump'), but mostly because of an unexplained initial voiceless k- (the regular form would be *guṭ-, cf. gaṭu 'boundary' < *gaṭ-).
Number in DED : 1676
