Proto-Eskimo: *utluʁja- ~ *utluvjaa-
Meaning: whirlwind
Russian meaning: вихрь
Proto-Yupik: *utluʁja- (~ -pl-, -cl-)
Proto-Inupik: *uluvjaa-
Comments: This is doubtlessly a borrowing from PKam *t'lu- 'to blow (wind)' (< PKCh *tǝ̆svu- id.) and *fjal (~ *xʷ-) 'storm' (PKCh *ъɣʷjaɫ id.); i. e., *t'lu-xʷjal means 'blowing storm'. Cf. also the Proto-Inupik borrowing *uvjaluja- from *fjal-fjal.
