Meaning: wide, narrow
Russian meaning: широкий, узкий
Comments: This stem cannot be a derivative from the root *ǝkǝ- 'bay, sound'; however, some contaminations are still possible (hence, perhaps, velar -k- instead of uvular -q- in Inupik languages). Cf. also Proto-Inupik *iq-pa-ʁ- 'to spread out'.
