Proto-IE: *pAlǝ- / *pelǝ-
Meaning: to pour, to flood
Armenian: heɫum `giesse aus, vergiesse', z-eɫum `lasse in Menge strömen, gebe reichlich' pass. `ströme über, übervoll'
Celtic: OIr du-lin `flutet', 3 pl. dulinat; Cymr llanw `Flut', Bret lano, lanv `Flut'
Russ. meaning: лить, заливать
References: WP II 54 f
Comments: Baltic obviously reflects a contamination of two roots, the second meaning "to fill". But the words meaning "swamp" do not belong here -- cf. a separate root (Lat. palūs, etc.).
