\data\nostr\nostret
Eurasiatic: *[s]iKV
Meaning: thick, congeal
Uralic: *śikV (but cf. PA *sĭ̀gó 'thick growth'?)
Dravidian: *ǯig-
Comments: Consonants unclear, perhaps because of root confusion.
References: ND 478 *ĉ̣iḲV 'tight, narrow, dense' (partially also 2192 *ŝiḲU 'to get cold, cool' - same Ural. in both cases; Alt. *ši̯ogo 'cold' and SSem. *šḳḳ- hardly belong here). ND 478 compares SH *ṣ̂Vḳ- 'narrow, tight'; but if the original meaning was 'thick, congeal' cf. NC *č̣Hɨ̆xq̇wẮ 'resin'?). Cf. *sVḳV.
