However, a hypothesis of a Cushitic term related to Sem. *bariǯ- 'mule' with metathesis and a shift of meaning (borrowed in Proto-Eth.) looks more plausible than an assumption of Eth *bazr-at, with metathesis and a meaning shift inherited from PSem.
