Proto-WChadic: *pVṭ-
Meaning: 'pluck' 1, 'extract' 2
Diri: fǝta 1 [SkNb]
Pa'a: pɨtā̀ 1 [MS]
Ngizim: pǝ̀tú, fǝ̀tú 2 [SchN]
Notes: Angas parp (pl.) 'to pluck (of grass, fowls, etc).' [Fl] may originate from *par-Vp or *pat-Vp, in the latter case also belong to this root. For verbal pl. with -Vp suff. see [ FrMG:56, Hll: 316]. Similar cases are mistakenly treated in [TAS] as forms with epenthetic -r-, cf., e.g. p.286: "perep (epenthetic-r-), pl. form of the root *pet".
