PST *qālH 'burden, back' should be rather compared with PNC *χ_[ä]lʔV `burden, load' (see *[χ]VlʔV). 5th tone in Ket may reflect *-ʔ-, which would contradict lax type in NC, but may also be a misrecording or also a secondary influence of the root *[χ]V́lʔV.
