Proto-Sino-Tibetan: *Tăŋ(H)
Meaning: bright
Tibetan: mdaŋs brigtness of face, appearance etc.
Burmese: taŋʔ be pleasant, beautiful, thaŋh be bright, as colours.
Lepcha: kŭr-dăŋ ruddy, as ripe fruit
Comments: The Tib. form may reflect a merger with *tēŋ 'face' q. v. Cf. also Kulung thaNthaNpa 'shining, bright'. Cf. Austric: PAN *edaŋ 'light, shine', PAA *tVŋ 'burn'.
