Meaning: free, let loose
Chinese: *ƛ_ōt, *Ł_ōt to peel off, let loose.
Tibetan: lhod loose, relaxed, glod to loosen, relax; to comfort, console (perhaps a different root, cf. OCh. 悅 *Łot pleased, glad).
Burmese: lwat be at liberty, free, unrestrained, kjwat be freed from, khjwat to release, free, emancipate, LB *-lwat.
Kachin: lot2 to escape, (H) khjot to banish, expel, exile; tat3 to liberate.
Lushai: hlut (LS) to take pleasure in.
Lepcha: lŭt to liberate, to save, to ransom; lut to uncover, to strip off, as skin, bark, thatch, to turn over as leaf of book; lját to get loose
Kiranti: *plut(-s) to loosen, *lót pull out
