Proto-Sino-Tibetan: *ƛŏŋ
Meaning: burn, heat
Burmese: lauŋ to burn (a thing) as fire or anything hot.
Kachin: proŋ1 be burned, as a house to the ground, gruŋ1 to burn, blaze, flame.
Comments: Mikir phloŋ burn the dead; Angami a-luŋ, Midzhu loŋ fire (a jhum). Sh. 182, 448; Ben. 40. Here probably Miju kɨ-mphlaŋ 'white', Yogli alauŋ id., as well as Bugun haha-yaŋ, Cuona plaŋ 'sun' - although there may be some confusion with the root *ƛ[a]ŋ q.v.
