Proto-Sino-Tibetan: *Pǝ̄
Meaning: hole
Chinese: *b_ǝ̄ fill up, obstruct (e. g. a hole).
Tibetan: ãba hole, cave, cavern.
Burmese: pha to fill up a hole.
Comments: Cf. *[ph]āH mend, patch: the two roots are very similar and tend to influence each other. We can probably relate here some TB forms meaning 'mouth': Karen *pu.T, Ao Naga *pV, Hmar bau.
