Meaning: lift, raise
Chinese: *tǝŋʔ to lift up, 上 *daŋʔ rise, raise, *daŋs up, above, on, over, 尚 *daŋ upwards.
Tibetan: bźeŋ (resp.) to raise, erect, set up (cf. also daŋ 'first'?)
Burmese: thauŋ to lift up, place upright.
Lushai: toŋ to reach up to (as anything on the ground reaching up to anything raised above it).
Lepcha: thaŋ above
Comments: Cf. also OCh. 登 *tǝ̄ŋ rise, ascend; put up; Lush. čhɔ̄ŋ one above another (*dǝ̄ŋ ?); Limbu thaŋmaʔ 'come up' (also Kir. *dhǝ̀ŋ 'head, above'); Kar. *tha[ŋ] 'up, go up' (Pwo thã, Sgaw thɔ), Cf. PAA *dVŋ 'above'.
