Proto-Yenisseian: *sin-
Meaning: glade, spring
Ket: śinĺ5, pl. -ǝŋ5,6 'glade, полынья'
Yug: sinɨr5, pl. -ɨŋ5 'glade, полынья'
Kottish: šinaŋ, pl. šinakŋ "spring"
Comments: ССЕ 274. Werner (2, 197) is probably correct in analyzing the Ket-Yug forms as a compound with *-xur1 'water'; however, analyzing sin- as = *sin- 'old, withered' is surprising and, moreover, does not take into account the Kott. form (which is in fact an original plural from the simple root).
