Комментарии: Tind. and Bagv. have suffixed forms (with *-la). The Av. word for "palate" is χ:ʷenéχ which is a contamination of this root with *χ:ʷ[i]mVχV q.v.
Комментарии: The Av. accent paradigm is irregular (hój-dul,ha-bí); the plural form is probably an innovation (the -bí suffix tends to be stressed), thus paradigm A may be considered original. Cf. also Av. dial. hʷe,hʷej, Akhv. Tseg., Tl. χʷaj, Ratl. χʷaji, Bagv. Tlis. χʷaj.
In plural most Andian languages reflect the stem *χʷor-, cf. Bagv. hʷara-χ:a, God. χʷar-di, Kar. χʷad-di ( < *χʷar-di).
Комментарии: Cf. also Cham. Gig. zari. In Akhv. the same root served as a basis for the noun and adjective "cold": *zar-ʎʷi / *zar-hʷi > North. Akhv. žaho,žahu-dabe, Tseg. žoʎer,žoʎa-b, Tlan. žʷarʎer,žʷarʎa-b, Ratl. žaʎʷer,žaʎu-dab.
Комментарии: Cf. also Akhv. Tseg. žĩwu, Tlan. žũ, Ratl. žjo. We must consider also as Andian loans Tsez. zija, Khvarsh. zĩhĩ, Inkh. zĩje 'cow' (because in case of genuine relationship all these languages would have initial s-).
Значение:1 to lose heart, be cast down 2 to be shivering
Аварский:zúrzu-d- 1
Ахвахский:zuzu-laχ:- 2
Комментарии: An expressive reduplicated stem (cf. also Av. zurzúr 'dejection, low spirits'), which explains the irregular preservation of z in Akhvakh (ž would be expected regularly).
Комментарии: The form is qualified as 'dialectal' in the Avar-Russian dictionary, so the precise source is unknown. This is most likely a contamination of the original root *c̣V̆rc_V with the dialectal Av. name for "hedgehog" (which in many languages of Dagestan is described as "prickly mouse" (cf. Lak. c:ac-ḳulu) or "prickly cat" (cf. Arch. caclin gatu). It is not quite clear, how this root correlates with Kar. žʷanžʷa 'squirrel' (perhaps it should be rather compared with Bud. ǯaʕǯu 'hedgehog' - but since both Kar. and Bud. forms are quite isolated, the question remains open).
