Comments: The prefixless root is present only in Avar. (cf. also aχ:á-ƛ̣: "sediment", Bac. aħi "mountain foot"). Most other languages reflect forms with class prefixation.
The accent paradigm of Av. boχ: is A or C (pl. bóχ:al/bóχ:dul).
Comments: In some languages (Akhv., Av.) the root is supplied with a dental adjectival suffix (Akhv. -aχ:a-da < *-aχ:al-da). The second root vowel is impossible to reconstruct (because of its weak unstressed position).
Comments: Cf. also Akhv. Tseg., Tl., Ratl. -uχ:-, Kar. Tok. -eχ:ʷ-, Anch. -uχ:-. Reasons for -n-conjugation in Cham. are not clear (note that this verb in Cham. is both intransitive and transitive: 'to leave'). Not quite clear is the relationship of Av. χ:u-ṭ- 'to stay' (stem II with an expressive suffix?).
Comments: In Av. Chad. ħ- would be expected normally; χ- should probably be explained by the influence of literary Avar. An Ablaut variant of the same root is PA *ʔoχ(ʷ)Vn- 'to boil, seethe' > And. oχʷon- (the MSU recording is oχ:ʷon-, which is probably a misspelling), Akhv. ãχun-, Cham. aχʷa-ta-d- (Gig. aχaχ-), Kar. ahan- (Anch. ãχuχʷ-, Tok. ũhũh-), God. ãwuχ-.
Comments: Not clear is -ž- in Cham. (z would be regularly expected): this may be either a loan from Tindi (which is rather unusual) or, rather, Avar influence (note that both Avar and Cham. have also a secondary meaning development 'to grow (trans.)' > 'to create').
Comments: Cf. also Akhv. Tlan., Ratl. =ac:i-q̇a-. The first part of the compound is *=oc:i- 'brother/sister'. In Avar there also exists another compound: ím-ʕal 'uncle' (with im- 'father'), but the corresponding Andian forms are not attested.
The Avar forms (wac:ʕal,jac:ʕal) were widely borrowed into neighbouring languages: cf. And. wacʔal,jacʔal, Kar. wacʕal,jacʕal, God. wac:aʕal,jac:aʕal, Tsez., Gin., Bezht., Gunz. wacʕal,jacʕal. Old Tind. > Inkh. waccahaw,jaccahaj.

Comments: Cf. also a reduplicated stem in Av. xuxn- (Chad. xux-) 'to knit, plait' ( = Kar. =exux-). It is interesting to note Cham. =aʎiʎa-d- 'to knit, plait' which probably reflects an early variant of the same stem with delabialisation (and, accordingly, preservation of the lateral *ʎ).
