Proto-Tsezian: *ƛɨn ( ~ -i-)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: shelf
Tsezi: ƛen (Imnaishvili)
Khvarshi: ƛen (Radzhibov)
Inkhokvari: ƛɨn
Comments: PTsKh *ƛɨn. Since the word is no doubt related to Av. ƛ̣:oʕén, it can not be regarded as a loan from Tind. naƛ:u 'shelf'; we should rather suppose the opposite direction of borrowing (although metathesis in Tindi is strange in any case).
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛɨr (~ -e-,-ǝ-,-l)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: guest
Tsezi: ƛirba
Ginukh: ƛerba
Khvarshi: ƛar
Inkhokvari: ƛar
Comments: PTsKh *ƛǝr (with a variant *ƛǝr-ba - which is historically a plural form).
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛɔče ( ~ -u-)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: frog
Ginukh: ƛoči
Comments: Attested only in Gin., but having probable external parallels.
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛɔlǝ A
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: war, fight
Tsezi: ƛori
Ginukh: ƛore
Khvarshi: ƛola
Inkhokvari: ƛolo
Bezhta: ƛalo (Tlad.)
Gunzib: ƛɔle (Gunz.)
Comments: PTsKh *ƛoRǝ; PGB *ƛɔlǝ.
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛɔrV ( ~ -u-,-l-)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: gorge, ravine
Ginukh: ƛoro
Comments: Attested only in Gin., but having probable external parallels.
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛɔχ:- ( ~ -ʁ-)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: 1 rake 2 curry-comb
Bezhta: ƛaχdami (Khosh.) 1
Gunzib: ƛɔχƛelaru (Gunz.) 2
Comments: PGB *ƛɔχ- (with unclear second parts both in Bezht. and in Gunz.; in Bezht. Khosh. two variants are recorded by MSU: ƛaχdami and ƛaχami). The same root is used in compound verbs: Bezht. ƛaχa gul- 'to scrape, scratch', ƛaχ-ƛ- 'to comb' (trans.), ƛaχ-dah- id. (intrans.).
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛũ B
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: 1 bridge, stairs 2 funeral stretcher
Tsezi: ƛe 1
Bezhta: ƛõ 2
Comments: Tsez. obl. base ƛero-.
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛuχ:
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: 1 ceiling 2 on the ceiling
Tsezi: ƛeχe-ƛ 2
Ginukh: ƛeχe-ƛ 2
Bezhta: ƛuχ 1 (Khosh.)
Comments: PTsKh *ƛɨχǝ- ( ~ -i-, -ǝ-) is reflecting the old oblique base (with Ablaut) *ƛɨχ:ǝ- (cf. also Tsez. ƛeχu 'thin log').

There exists also a PTs variant *ƛuχ(u), reflected in Gin. ƛuhu 'beam' and PGB *ƛuʁ (*ƛũʁ) > Bezht. Tlad. ƛuʁ 'ceiling', Gunz. ƛũhi 'on the ceiling'. It is interesting to note Avar forms: Av. ƛ:uʁúr, Chad. ƛuhur 'planking (for the ceiling)' - which in this case are probably old borrowings from the neighbouring Tsez languages (genuine relationship is excluded for phonetic reasons).

Proto-Tsezian: *ƛʷɨrV B
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: bone
Tsezi: ƛuza
Ginukh: ƛužej
Khvarshi: ƛazal
Inkhokvari: ƛozol
Bezhta: ƛörä
Gunzib: ƛora
Comments: PTsKh *ƛʷǝza, obl. *ƛʷǝzǝ-RV-, PGB *ƛora. In PTs the oblique base must have been *ƛʷɨrV-z:a-, whence, with metathesis, *ƛʷɨz:Vra- (> PTsKh *ƛʷǝzǝ-RV-; the PTsKh direct base *ƛʷǝza is a secondary analogous building).
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛ̣[a]lu
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: 1 stone 2 trap
Tsezi: ƛ̣ul-uq̇ 2
Ginukh: ƛ̣al 1
Khvarshi: ƛ̣ar 2
Bezhta: ƛ̣alo 1
Gunzib: ƛ̣ɔlu 1
Comments: PTsKh *ƛ̣aR (the semantic shift 'stone' > 'trap' /probably through 'stone plate, lid'/ is rather common, cf., e.g. the development of PEC *q̇wiɫV 'rock, stone' in Andian languages). PGB *ƛ̣ɔlu (-ɔ- is not quite clear: -a- would be normally expected).
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛ̣aqa
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: jaw
Ginukh: ƛ̣aqa
Bezhta: ƛ̣aqa
Gunzib: ƛ̣aqa
Comments: PGB *ƛ̣aqa. The Gin. form may be genuine or borrowed from Bezht.
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛ̣eq̇V
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: 1 bark 2 birch bark
Ginukh: ƛ̣iq̇in 2
Bezhta: ƛ̣eq̇a 1
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛ̣eš:(a)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: 1 pole(s) (for planking the ceiling) 2 board; step of stairs
Tsezi: ƛ̣iš 1
Ginukh: ƛ̣iš 1
Bezhta: ƛ̣ešä 2 (Tlad.)
Comments: PTsKh *ƛ̣eš.
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛ̣eχ: ( ~ -χ)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: bough
Ginukh: ƛ̣iχ
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛ̣eχʷ- ( ~ -χ:ʷ-)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: cobble-stone
Ginukh: ƛ̣iχʷin
Comments: Attested only in Gin., but having probable Andian parallels.
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛ̣[ǝ]ra
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: ear (of corn)
Ginukh: ƛ̣ila
Bezhta: ƛ̣öwa
Gunzib: ƛ̣ǝra (Nakh.)
Comments: PGB *ƛ̣ǝra. Some recordings are problematic: Bokarev had recorded Bezht. Tlad. ƛ̣era and Gunz. ƛ̣era; all MSU recordings, however, are in accordance with Madieva's Bezht. ƛ̣öwa (cf. Bezht. Tlad., Khosh. ƛ̣ora, Gunz. Nakh. ƛ̣ǝra).
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛ̣ĩ A
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: malt

Ginukh: ƛ̣e
Khvarshi: ƛ̣i (Radzhibov)
Inkhokvari: ƛ̣ẽ
Bezhta: ƛ̣i (Khosh.)
Gunzib: ƛ̣i (G.)
Comments: PTsKh *ƛ̣[ĩ] (ẽ in Inkh. is irregular); PGB *ƛ̣i.
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛ̣ibe(r)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: shed, hayloft
Bezhta: ƛ̣ibe
Gunzib: ƛ̣iber
Comments: PGB *ƛ̣ibe(r).
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛ̣imV
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: buckwheat 1: a k. of plant ("купырь")
Bezhta: holo-ƛ̣ime 1, sĩ-ƛ̣ime 2
Gunzib: sɨj-ƛ̣imi 2
Comments: PGB *ƛ̣imi. The first component is holo "pea(s)" or *sɨ̃h "bear".
Proto-Tsezian: *ƛ̣ipu (~-ɨ-)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: lip
Tsezi: ƛ̣epu
Ginukh: ƛ̣epu
Comments: PTsKh *ƛ̣ipu (~-ɨ-); nasalisation also possible.
