Proto-Tsezian: *miša-χu ( ~ -ɨ-)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: mint
Tsezi: mešaħu
Ginukh: mečaħu
Comments: PTsKh *mišaχ̥1̇u (-č- in Gin. is irregular, probably under influence of *mič(a) 'nettle' q.v.).
Proto-Tsezian: *miš:u
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: sickle
Gunzib: mišu
Comments: External evidence shows that Gunz. mišu should be kept apart from PTsKh *nišu 'sickle' (cf. in PA the opposition *ničo : *mirčV), although of course the phonetics and meaning of PTs *niš:u could have influenced the Gunzib form.
Proto-Tsezian: *miχ(e) A
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: tail
Tsezi: maħi
Ginukh: mihi
Khvarshi: mihĩ
Inkhokvari: mihe
Bezhta: miʁ
Gunzib: miʁ
Comments: PTsKh *miχ̥1̇e, PGB *miʁ.
Proto-Tsezian: *miχV
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: roasted grain
Tsezi: maħu
Ginukh: mihi
Khvarshi: mihe (Radzhibov)
Inkhokvari: mihe
Comments: PTsKh *miχ̥1̇V.
Proto-Tsezian: *miž(:)ɔ A
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: you (2d p. plur.)
Tsezi: meži
Ginukh: meži
Khvarshi: mižo
Inkhokvari: mižo
Bezhta: miže
Gunzib: miže
Comments: PTsKh *miže / *mižo; PGB *miže. To judge from the Inkh. evidence, originally the stem *miž(:)e was used as ergative (Inkh. miže), and the stem *miž(:)ɔ - as nominative (Inkh. mižo).

The initial labial in PTs *miž(:)e is hard to separate from PA *b- in *biš:-di-, Av. m- in muž 'you'. This means, that the original oblique (genitive) base *-iźwV- (with the class prefixes *w- or *u_-) changed its function to direct as early as in Proto-Avaro-Ando-Tsezian. See below for more details.

Proto-Tsezian: *mɨc A
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: tongue
Tsezi: mec
Ginukh: mec
Khvarshi: mec
Inkhokvari: mɨc
Bezhta: mic
Gunzib: mɨc
Comments: PTsKh *mɨc; PGB *mɨc.
Proto-Tsezian: *mɨLV ( ~ -ʎ-)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: 1 hem (of a garment) 2 flap, skirt
Bezhta: miʎil 1
Gunzib: muli (Nakh.) 2
Comments: PGB *mɨLi- (with -ɨ- > -u- after a labial in Gunz.; the Bezht. form has a suffixed -l, cf. a different suffix in Bezht. Khosh. miʎin id.).
Proto-Tsezian: *mɨq̇
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: chisel
Bezhta: muq̇
Gunzib: mɨq̇
Comments: PGB *mɨq̇ (-u- in Bezht. is obviously secondary, under the influence of m-).
Proto-Tsezian: *mɨs:V A
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: 1 sand 2 road metal
Ginukh: mese 1
Bezhta: miso 1
Gunzib: mɨsu 2
Comments: PGB *mɨsu.
Proto-Tsezian: *mɨsV (~-Z-)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: earth
Bezhta: mizo
Gunzib: mɨzǝ
Comments: PGB *mɨzV.
Proto-Tsezian: *mocu (~-u-)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: rib
Inkhokvari: mucu
Comments: Isolated in Inkh., but having probable external parallels.
Proto-Tsezian: *moħ A
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: 1 oats 2 acorn ( < *grain)
Ginukh: mu 1
Bezhta: miʔẽ (Tlad.) 2

Proto-Tsezian: *momV-la

Bezhta: momola

Khvarshi: mus (Radzhibov)
Inkhokvari: mus
Comments: PTsKh *mus.
Proto-Tsezian: *moṭo
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: face
Bezhta: moṭo
Gunzib: moṭo
Comments: PGB *moṭo.
Proto-Tsezian: *mɔče A
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: place; ground; field
Tsezi: moči
Ginukh: moči
Bezhta: mače
Gunzib: mɔče
Comments: PTsKh *moče, PGB *mɔče (cf. also Bezht. Tlad., Khosh. mäče). The PTs oblique stem can be reconstructed as *mičV- > PTsKh *mičV- (Tsez. /Bokarev/ meče-, /Imnaishvili/ mečo-), PGB *mičV- (Gunz. mičo-, Bezht. Tlad. /Bokarev/ miča-).
Proto-Tsezian: *mɔʁ:u (~-χ-)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: body
Bezhta: maʁo

Bezhta: mähä
Gunzib: maʔa
Comments: PTsKh *möʔ(e) (cf. also Gin. by Lomtadze müʔi; Khvarsh. and Inkh. -u- is not quite clear); PGB *mɔhɔ (the Gunz. form probably is a misspelling for mɔʔɔ, cf. also the notation for Nakhada dialect: maʕɔ).
Proto-Tsezian: *mɔkV
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: 1 sheepskin 2 fur-coat
Bezhta: maku 2
Gunzib: mɔgɔ 1
Comments: PGB *mɔku (obl. base *mɔkɔ-li- > Bezht. maka-li-, Gunz. mɔgɔ-li-; in Gunz. the obl. base vocalism influenced the direct stem; cf. also Bezht. Tlad., Khosh. mäkä 'fur-coat' with the same vocalic development). The seemingly close PTsKh *boko 'fur-coat' can not correspond to PGB *mɔku phonetically and is actually a loan from Andian (see *wǟkwV).
Proto-Tsezian: *mɔL(:)- (~-ʎ-,-ʎ:-)
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: to teach
Ginukh: moʎ-
Comments: Attested only in Ginukh, but having good external parallels.
