Комментарий: Cf. also Lezg. erg. qip:re, Tab. Khiv. q:Iub, Ag. Bursh. R̀u, Burk. R̀uwan-caj, Tp. ʕub. 3d class in all class-distinguishing languages. The Bud. form may have experienced the Azerb. influence (cf. Azerb. Gurbaʁa > Tsakh. q̇ulbaʁa), but is certainly not a loanword. Irregular transformations of the same root can be discovered in Tab. Kand. ʁIumṗa-ṭaṭa, Düb. baq:Ia-cacaj 'frog'.
Комментарий: Unclear is q- in Kryz. (q:- should be expected). Cf. also Ag. Bursh. R̀un, Fit. ʁIun, Burk. R̀an, Tp. ʕun. Obl. stem unclear (but not *-a, judging by Lezg. erg. q:ünü, loc. q:üne, Tab. ʁIuni-, Ag. Bursh. R̀uni-); 4th class in Rut., Arch., 3d class in Kryz.
See Лексика 1971,122; Гигинейшвили 1977, 73, 85; Талибов 1980, 304.
Комментарий: Cf. also Lezg. Khl. q:ücügen, Ag. Burk. R̀ardek:en. 3d class in Rut., Tsakh. and Kryz., 4th class in Bud. A long word with rather expected metatheses and dissimilations; nevertheless, the PL form is sufficiently well reconstructable. Major irregularities: Lezg. -g- instead of (lit.) -ḳ-, (Khl.) -k:- - a result of early deglottalisation (*-ƛ̣:- > *-ƛ:-); Tsakh. ʁunelek (with a variant ʁulenik; cf. also Gelm. ʁunanik, Tsakh. proper q:uńanik) < *q:udinVƛ̣: / *q̇:ulinVƛ̣: (note the early secondary lateralisation -d- > -l- under the influence of *-ƛ̣:, which later regularly changed to -k); loss of pharyngealisation in the Eastern area (for PL it must be reconstructed on the Lezg. and Ag. evidence).
Since the meanings 'pillow' and 'sack' are often interchangeable, it seems tempting to link with this root also Arch. ƛ̣:ut:ali 'sack' - possibly an assimilative development from the expected *qIut:aƛ̣:i(n).
In Proto-Shakh-Dagh the word must have sounded *q:uǯiḳ:in (cf. modern forms: Kryz. q:uǯukan, Bud. - with some irregularities - q̇:üšküd). This form was most probably borrowed in Khin. iχčiḳin 'pillow' (which can not be a genuinely related form).
Комментарий: Cf. also Lezg. Khl. q:ül. 3d class in Rut., Arch., but 4th class in Kryz and Bud. There is a vacillation between reflexes of PL *o and *oI (just as in the name of "rye", PL *s:ol q.v.); the pharyngealized variant is reflected in Lezg. and Kryz (without pharyngealisation we would have Lezg. q:ul and Kryz. q:ɨl). The Arch. form is reduplicated. The obl. base can be reconstructed as *q:(I)olä- (cf. Rut. ʁɨ́la-).
Комментарий: Cf. also Tab. Düb. q:ul 'village', Ag. Bursh. ʕul id., Tsakh. Tsakh. q:uĺ, Gelm. ʁuĺ 'window'. Obl. base *q:ule- (cf. Lezg. q:ula-, Tab. ʁula-, Ag. ʁule-, Rut. ʁuli-, Tsakh. ʁule-). 3d class in Rut., but 4th class in Tsakh. The original meaning is obviously 'hole, opening' (subsequently > 'dwelling hole, nest, settlement').
Комментарий: Pharyngealization in Ag. is secondary (cf. dial. ʁuraʁal), but a precise reconstruction of vowels is hardly possible (because of the disyllabic root structure and expressive semantics). In Ud. qoqla is Gukasyan's transcription; the MSU recording is qok:la (either a dissimilation, or a misspelling).
Комментарий: Isolated in Rut., but having probable external parallels. The word also means 'lock', which is a frequent semantic development ('stump' > 'log, block' > 'lock').
