Комментарий: The original meaning 'hand' is preserved in Ud. and Arch. (also in the Rut. derivate), while in the rest of languages it shifted to 'branch'. In Arch. the word is characterized by a unique (and as yet unexplained) alternation -l-/-r- (cf. the oblique stem kura-, pl. kur-ʁul). The PL obl. stem had been *kʷilɨ- (to judge from Ag. kulu-). The word belongs to the 4th class in Rut. and Arch. Cf. also Ud. köj 'sleeve' (a derived form < *kʷil(V)j-).
Комментарий: Cf. Lezg. erg. kuṗ-uni, Lezg. Khl. kaṗ,kuṗ-uni id. The development *kʷiṗ > *kʷaṗ > (with dissimilatory delabialisation) kaṗ in Lezg. is regular. Obl. base *kʷiṗɨ- (cf. Tsakh. kubɨ-). 3d class in Rut. and Tsakh.
Комментарий: Cf. also Ag. Tp. kutal, Burk. kʷatal. 3d class in Kryz. and Bud., 4th class in Archi. The Archi form may be borrowed from Avar (Av. kután), but this is less probable for other Lezgian languages (regularly going back to PL *kʷitan).
Комментарий: Cf. also Tsakh. (Tsakh.) ḳurṭel 'temple'. In Rut. q̇- is due to contamination with q̇ul 'head'; the Udi form is somewhat obscure phonetically (maybe we should rather list here Ud. ḳodo-χ 'forehead' ?). All languages show suffixed forms (with *-n in Rut., Kryz. and Bud., *-l in Tsakh. and *-j in Arch.). 3d class in Kryz. and Bud., but 4th class in Rut., Tsakh. and Arch.
Комментарий: It is not quite clear whether we should relate here Bud. kučar 'small jar' (perhaps < *kʷV(m)tär reflecting an original front vowel in the second syllable?).
Комментарий: Cf. also (with an interesting metathesis) Ag. Rich. muskel id. The root is attested only in Ag. (thus the PL reconstruction is rather uncertain), but has possible external parallels.
Комментарий: A suffixed form, attested only in Lezg. (-i- in the first weak syllable denotes actually a reduced vowel -ǝ-), thus the PL reconstruction is rather tentative.
Комментарий: 4th class in all class-distinguishing languages. Obl. base *ḳac̣a- (Rut., Tsakh. ḳac̣a-). Perhaps we should also relate here Tab. Kand. ḳec̣ 'reel, spool' ( = "piece of wood with a hole"), although the vowel -e- is not clear.
