BELOW THE SALT

Really as great as you and Mr Tichonov say. 'Royal Forester', 'Saucy Saylor', 'Spotted Cow' and 'Sheepcrook and blackdog' are all masterpieces. 'King Henry' is my favorite, but it's overlonged and its middle part really greates me. The other tracks are not so important, but also good. And it's maybe the greatest way to introduce somebody into celtic music. But why you call it "rock"? There are ain't no drums on here(except a single one in 'Shipcrook..' and spoons(yeah, the greatest rock instrument ever) in 'Bride's favorite'). It's English Folk Music IN Electric Arrangement. And though it's damn good, I don't want to listen to it any more(twelve is right).

My parents had Below the Salt and Parcel of Pogues in their collection when I was a toddler. I knew all the songs by heart by the time I was ten (blissfully clueless about sexual content). In highschool I tracked down their other albums.

I wish you had a review of Parcel of Rogues, as it is one of my favorites. I had one response to your interpretation of "King Henry"...

My reading of the lyrics sees King Henry, having already provided her with a meal at great personal cost ("gave me such a fill"), horrified by the idea of bedding the grisly ghost but courteously doing it anyway ("gave me all my will"). I think it took more than a kiss to break the spell that she was under...
