The Starling database program

STARLING is a software package designed by Sergei Starostin for various types of linguistic text and database processing, including handling of linguistic fonts in the DOS and WINDOWS operating systems, operations with linguistic databases and Internet presentation of linguistic data.

STARLING in its present shape functions on IBM-compatible computers with the Windows 95 or Windows NT operating systems. There exists also a version for the Unix (Linux) operating system. Although the system cannot be installed on MacOS, Macintosh machines are capable of receiving STARLING output from remote servers.

In autumn 2000, a full-scale Windows version of STARLING became operational. The STARLING program (for DOS and WINDOWS) as well as several databases can be downloaded here.

You can also join a mailing list created specially for Starling users. Instructions can be found here: http://starling.rinet.ru/mailman/listinfo/starling-users.
